After gaining a Masters in Electronics and Information Technology he worked for the BBC's Designs department, developing advanced broadcast electronics before moving into software design and IT.

Richard has travelled in Europe and North America, seeking opportunities to record the beauty and wildness of nature. His interest in prehistory and the natural world has taken him to many remote parts of the British Isles and Northern Europe.
